It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Dayton Callender Sr. of Haynesville, Louisiana, born in Kilgore, Texas, who passed away on January 19, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Coy Callender, Sr. and Mary Louise Morgan Callender; his siblings, Charles Coy Callender, Jr. and Charlene Houser; and his grandson Alexander Colby Callender.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Jane Sindle Callender; his sons, John Dayton Callender, Jr. (Jayna), Jeffery Lynn Callender (Avis) and Robert Virgil Callender; and his siblings, Cecille Callender Strange (Don), Joyce Callender Mc Calahan (Ricky), Loretta Callender Kelley (Michael) and Malcolm Callender (Sherry). He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home - Haynesville (4011 LA-2 Alt, Haynesville, LA 71038). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
