He was predeceased by: his wife Florence Ella Strong Attaway; his parents, Newman Attaway and Bessie Mae Attaway; and his siblings, Louise Deen and Newman Attaway, Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Marie Raab (Brett), Karen McCart (Ronny), Donna Murray (Mike) and Vernon Attaway; and also, Micah Raab, Jeremiah Raab, Scott McCart, Derek McCart, Matt Jacobs, Erik Scott and Josh Funderburk.
