He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lawless and Leona Lawless; his wife Eva Lillian Lawless; his son Christopher Robert Lawless; and his great grandchild Madison Caldwell.

He is survived by: his siblings, Duane "Pat" Lawless (Clara) and Roxanne Schick (Dennis); and his children, James Lawless (Paula), Patricia Shell, Pauline Lawless, Pam Phillips (Rick, Sr.) and Paul Lawless (Tammy).
