He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosetta Shaw Cotton and John Thomas Cotton; his son Tyran Cotton; and his siblings, Laura Hauer, Margie Williams, Luvenia Johnson, Vera Fluker, Leroy Simpson Sr., Lawrence Williams, Jimmy and Thomas Cotton.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Bell; his children, Arevia (Wendell), Yvette (Vincent), John (LaTisha) and Ira; his daughter-in-law Veronica Cotton; his sister Helen Whitehead; his sister-in-law Janice Cotton; his grandchildren, Brandon, Ian, Elan, Kayla, Andia, Kellie, Kelsea, Malaya, John, Kira, Angel, Kiran, Dylan, Koi and Tairan; his great grandchildren, Emari, Elijah, Avaeya, Cameron, Riley, Antonio, Braylon and Ambrose; and his godchildren, Gary Fluker, Donna Hill, John Sheprard, Steve and Allen Whitehead. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
