He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Butler, Sr. and Orelia Bartley Butler; and his brother Charles Butler, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Ruby Simmons; his sons, Harry Butler, III and Kevin Thompson; his stepsons, Jerome Simmons (Tiffany) and Donald Simmons (Michelle); and his brothers, Roy Butler, Steve Butler and Edward J. Batiste. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
