With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Deacon Sylvester Bates of Harvey, Louisiana, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, who passed away on November 28, 2023 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Bates, Jr. and Eliza Mae Jackson Bates; his brother Robert Bates, III; and his godchild Salatheal Zeno Walthour. He is survived by: his wife Faye Mickey Bates; and his godchild Tondra Gilbert. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
