She was predeceased by: her parents, Dave Lopez and Helen Dufrene Lopez. She is survived by: her husband John Balestra; her children, Rickie Eslick, Jr. (Monica), Roy Eslick and Amber Balestra Fell (Brett); her siblings, Larry Lopez (Debbie) and Glenn Lopez (late Jacqueline "Tuddy"); and her sibling-in-law Christaine Brandt (James). She is also survived by her many Godchildren, nephews, nieces, and numerous friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Cheryl's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Children's Hospital of New Orleans.
