He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Wood Sims and Annie Bell Prine Sims; his grandson Sherwood "B. J." Berteau III; and his sister Margie Julian. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia McKinney Sims; his children, Debbie Berteau (Sherwood) and Kevin Sims (Sandra); his sisters, Gail Pate (Joel) and Connie Higginbotham (David); his grandchildren, Ashley Lane (Terry) and Krissi Sims; and his great grandchildren, Christopher Bergeron, Logan Bergeron and Kevin Sims Young. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
