He was predeceased by: his father Frank Ronald Henkel (Ronnie); and his grandparents, Tennis, Eleanor Mydland, Frank and Nenie Henkel.

He is survived by: his mother Ann Henkel Simmons (Gene); his daughters, Emily, Sarah and Heather Henkel; his grandchildren, Kingston and Jermia Ann; his siblings, Jeff Henkel (Debbie) and Stephanie Amos (Steve); his nephew Brennan; and his nieces, Madison, Karianne, Cailin and Pamela.
