He was predeceased by: his son John Joseph Dickerson Jr.; his parents, Luther Dickerson and Ethel Dickerson; his brothers, James Ernest Dickerson and Harvey Armston Dickerson; and his brother-in-law Lawrence Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Elaine Loraine Dickerson, Towana Ann Dickerson-Simmons (Stan), Victoria Lynn Dickerson and James Ernest Dickerson (Misty); his stepson Brian Edward Jolley (Serena); his siblings, Patsy Ruth Dickerson Smith, Luther "Butch" Dickerson Jr. (Barbara), Albert "Bert" Leroy Dickerson (Debbie), David "Danny" Daniel Dickerson (Chris), Lazon "Lonnie" Warren Dickerson (Patricia) and Lloyd "Ricky" Richard Dickerson (Patricia); and his daughter-in-law Misty Dickerson. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.
