It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joel Edwin Patterson of Hammond, Louisiana, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, who passed away on December 17, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Alonzo Patterson and Eloise Bates Patterson; and his siblings, Johnny, Patrick Patterson and Eloise Patterson.

He is survived by: his wife Caroline Scalia Patterson; his stepsons, John Tujague, Jr. and Michael Tujague (Amy Tujague); his grandchildren, Dalton Tujague, Dylan Tujague, Zachary Tujague (Mattie), Sara Tujague and Angelina Tujague; and his siblings, Maurice Patterson and Darlene Yates (Joseph Scalia).
