As Barbara departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Barbara. Though Barbara may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her husband Kerney'Pete'E. Nickens, Sr.; her parents, Norman Coates and Ruth Coates; and her brothers, Luther Coates and Charles Waymond Coates.
She is survived by: her son Kerney E. Nickens, Jr.; and her grandsons, Joshua and Jordan Nickens (Virginia). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Jerusalem Baptist Church (11109 Jerusalem Church Rd, Hammond, LA 70403). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
