He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Joseph, Sr. and Hattie Harriet Hartman Gaupp (Sherrell Marie Boutrin); his son-in-law Justin Byrd; his grandson Chandler Byrd; his great grandchild Austin Byrd; and his siblings, Tina Gaupp Harrington, Horace Joseph Gaupp, Jr. (Eilene) and Harrison Gaupp.

He is survived by: his daughters, Patsy Basso, Sandy Laird (Allen) and Paula Byrd; his grandchildren, Charles D. Basso, Jr. (Kelsey Broussard), Jake Laird, Bradley Byrd (Jessica), Lyndee Basso, DeLynn Basso, Katelynn Byrd, Joshua Byrd, Jeb Laird and Nathan Byrd; his great grandchildren, Adalynn Basso, Brycon Broussard, Winter Byrd and Allyson Byrd; and his sister Hattie Gaupp Nelms (Lynn). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
