He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Volcar Mayer, Sr. and Paula Lemaire Mayer; his daughter Allanna Kathryn Mayer; and his siblings, Lawrence Mayer, Margaret Height, Elizabeth Richard, Mildred Wilson, Mary Adeline Collings, Joseph Volcar Mayer II, James "Jimmy" Mayer, Logan Mayer and Francis Dale Mayer.
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Mayer of Gueydan, LA; his son Jonathan Mayer, Sr. (Jodie) of Gueydan, LA; his grandsons, Jonathan Mayer, Jr. (Sheridan), Joseph Allen Mayer and Joshua Mayer; his great grandchildren, Brady Jon, Foster and Elliot; and his brothers, Wallace, Robert, Roy Sr. and Volly Mayer.
