With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Anthony Andrew Charles of Gretna, Louisiana, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 29, 2024 at the age of 71. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hammond Charles, Sr. and Lizzie Mae Henry Charles; and his siblings, Cubie "Doll" Charles, Neal Charles and Muchell Charles.
He is survived by: his children, Toni Annette Charles and Tameacia Pounds; his adoptive daughter Nicole Pounds; his grandchildren, ShaMeiah Kirton, ShaLayah Kirton, Sarai Kirton and Niama Pounds; his siblings, Trudy Kent, Roxanne Charles, Precious Charles, Rev. Liroy Charles, Hammond Charles, Jr., Markey Charles and Brian Charles; his aunt Ernestine Henry Johnson; his uncle John "Mickey" Henry; his siblings-in-law, Loretta Charles, Scarlette Charles, Janice Charles, Della Charles, Brenda Charles, Sheryl Charles, Lisa Charles and Campanella Kent, Sr.; his close friends, Karen Faye Smith, Monica Pounds and Jo McGuire; and also LaShawn Marie Charles. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 8:30 AM at the Asbury United Methodist Church (2725 Ernest St, New Orleans, LA 70131). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location. FACE MASKS ARE RECOMMENDED.
