He was predeceased by: his parents, Velma Hall Chappell and Henry Morris Chappell; his former wife Elouise Hortman Chappell; and his sisters, Maureen Chappell Pipes and Ellagene "Jean" Chappell Elliott.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Beach Chappell; his son Ryan (Susan); his grandchildren, Neil Chappell (Ashley), Sarah Chappell Hubbard (Lael) and Rachel Chappell Chauvin (Jordan); his great grandchildren, Wilder, Scarlet Chappell and Luca Hubbard; his sister Julia Chappell Wroten; and his sister-in-law Catherine Collier Beach. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
