He was predeceased by: his son Charles Ray Phillips; his grandson Bruce Phillips, Jr.; his daughter Traci Smith; his granddaughter Tamyra Lynn Smith; his parents, Anita Brown (Lawrence, Sr.) and Willard Smith; and his siblings, Lawrence Brown, Jr. and Lottie Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Cora Lagarde Smith; and his children, George, Jr. (Elaine), Kenneth Smith (Kathy), Anthony (Shirley), Bruce Phillips, Sr. (Veronica), Carla Smith and Dwonna Collins (Harold). He is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
