It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Huey Bailey Jr. of Grant, Louisiana, born in Deridder, Louisiana, who passed away on February 23, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his mother Gladys Whitaker Bailey of DeRidder, LA; his sisters, Shelby Jean Bailey Cooley of DeRidder, LA and Myreline Bailey Monroe of DeRidder, LA; and his half-siblings, Vera Mae Bailey Moses of DeRidder and Vernon Bailey of DeRidder.

He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Garlington Bailey; his children, Dale Nathan Bailey (Karen Bailey) of Buna, TX and Mollie Bailey Anderson (Gray Anderson) of Elizabeth, LA; and his grandchildren, Nathan Anderson (Mallory), Seth Anderson, Marybeth Anderson Aker (Will), Dalton Bailey (Lauren), Bailey Anderson, Laura Anderson, Kobie Bailey, Faith Anderson and Ansley Anderson. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dry Creek Baptist Camp.

“My wife Myra and I met Huey and Kathleen while on a motorcycle trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway in the early 1990’s. As our friendship grew we traveled together on our motorcycles to Colorado, Maine and all points in between logging thousands of miles. We’ve come to love Huey and Kathleen like family and are deeply saddened by his passing. We pray God’s peace to comforts the hearts of his entire family including Kathleen, Mollie(Gray) Dale (Karen) and all the grandchildren.”
