She was predeceased by: her parents, Esaw Jr. Payton and Oretha Payton; her siblings, Lulabell Payton, Lisa Morris, Leroy Paul and Lawrence Payton Sr.; and her grandparents, Esaw Sr., Luttie Payton, Webbie Sr. and Frances Paul.
She is survived by: her children, Shanet Smith and Mario Smith Sr. of Gonzales, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Shareka Lewis, Ken Barrow, Jr., Mario Smith, Jr., Kamryn Smith and Kavonia Strong; her stepchildren, Deirdre Smith-Hafeez (Eric) of Dallas, Cheryl Hemphill-Joseph (Donald), Miyoshi Johsua (Coreon) of Prairieville, LA and Darren Smith of Geismar, LA; her stepgrandchildren, Kylee Williams, Kim Makenzie Coleman, Jayla Smith, Darren Smith, Jr., Chelon Joshua, Jhonte Joshua, Coreon Joshua, Jr., LaToya Hemphill, Shaquilla Hemphill and Donniel Hemphill; her siblings, MaryEllen Payton-Moses (Robert Sr), Wilbert Paul, Herman Payton (Sylvia) of Gonzales, Leonard Payton, Chester Payton of Sorrento, Charles Payton (Glenda) of St. James, Preston Payton (Robbie) of Sorrento and Raymond Payton (Kim) of Orlando, Florida; her godson Blake Scott; and her close friend Royd Riley. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the True Light Worship Center (1012 W Orice Roth Rd, Gonzales, LA 70737). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at the Brittany Community Cemetery.
