He was predeceased by: his parents, James Bankhead and Hattie Bankhead; and his sisters, Peggy Bonnecarere, Patsy Coxe and Polly Capello.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Stephenson Bankhead; his sons, Jimmy Bankhead (Carin), Mike Bankhead (Cheryl) and Jeff Bankhead; and his stepchildren, Julie Stephens, Mary Helen Miller (Mike) and Floyd Cox (Buddy). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
