He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry and Irene Sullivan Carpenter; and his stepmother Ruth Skains Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Bernice Barnhill Carpenter; his daughters, Sandra Spruell and Susie Autrey; his siblings, Bo Carpenter (Evelyn) and Martha Bates (Gary); and his aunt Mary Lou Carpenter. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; twenty- three great grandchildren.
