He was predeceased by: his parents, Dalton Howard and Ada Sachret Howard; his son Joseph "Butch" Howard; his grandson David Carlos; his siblings, Spencer, Joe Dave, Fred, Juanita, Mildred and Mary Ann; and his son-in-law Steven Deroche.
He is survived by: his close friend Dorothy Pitre Deroche; his children, Steward, Jr. (Faye), Arthur, Jr. (Dana), Brian Keith (Monica) and Tricha Monique (Kerry); his daughter-in-law Swakinee; his stepchildren, Ivy (Katherine), Susan (Wayne), Patricia and Diane; and his sisters, Theresa Mae, Gloria Ann, Catherine, Shirley and Betty. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
