It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Catherine Boddie of Gibsland, Louisiana, who passed away on April 24, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Catherine Boddie to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas C. Mathews and Weaver Hale Mathews; her husband William "Pugh" Barnette Boddie; and her siblings, Omera Beaton, Eliza Mathews, Etha Belle LeJeune, Laura McMillan, Lillie Hopkins, Archie Mathews, Albert Mathews, Marvin Mathews and Loren Mathews.
She is survived by: her children, Wesley Boddie (Vickie) of Bienville, LA, Roy Boddie (Teresia) of Weston, LA and Jean Cowan of Gibsland, LA; her grandchildren, Heather Boddie, Wyatt Cowan (Josie), Jake Cowan (Becky), Eli Boddie, Kevin Kelley and Audi Henderson; and her great grandchildren, Austin Pike, Brayden Cowan, Ryley Cowan, Victoria Cowan, Owen Smith and Liam Smith. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Throughout her life, Grannie selflessly donated her time and resources to multiple organizations in her community such as Scrappy Crafters at Anderson Chapel CME, the Community Coordinating Council Inc, and the Gibsland Coleman Booster Club, where she was often referred to as the "Candy Lady.".
