It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Virginia James of Geismar, Louisiana, who passed away on March 5, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Julien and Monroe James; her daughter Mildred Fay Wilson; her granddaughter Cherae James; her siblings, Wilbert James, Eugene James, Felton James, Eddie Gaines and Carrie Bell Smith; her godchildren, Rove Lodge Sr. and Dominique Dunbar; and her close friend Barbara Jean Johnson.
She is survived by: her children, Beverly Payton, Terri Brown (Ralph) of Gonzales, Wayne James (Sandra) of Baton Rouge and Arthur "Bo" James (Ollie) of Geismar; her son-in-law Calvin Wilson Sr. of Gonzales; her grandchildren, Geron Payton, Akendra James, Brandi Marks, Calvin Wilson Jr., LaQuita Wilson, Danyell Miles, Tamika Lomas, Lakeitha Chatman, Jamie Chatman, LeKiesha James and LaToya James; and her great great grandchild Nita Robinson. She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, March 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Hambrick Family Mortuary (808 W Worthey St, Gonzales, LA 70737).
