He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Marie Guillory Stelly; his parents, Elie Stelly and Alice Stelly; and his parents-in-law, Reme and Ida Guillory.

He is survived by: his sons, Howard Jr. (Scarlet), Gerard (Tonya) and John Brent; and his sister-in-law Dorothy Stelly. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
