He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Atkinson and Mazie Bauer Atkinson; his son Alvin Atkinson; his grandson Wayne Mire, Jr.; and his siblings, Nettie Brashear, Evelyn "P'Nut" Ficklin, Alice Kent, Millie Spruill, Walter "Joe", Tommy, Wiley "Bo" and Harry.
He is survived by: his wife Nelda Ann Clark; his children, Shannon Mire (Wayne), Brandon Atkinson and Joshua Atkinson (Savannah); his sisters, Helen "Doodie" Dawson (Ronnie), Margerite "Blondie" Brown and Sarah Hill; his grandchildren, Kristopher, Kylee Atkinson, Rosa, Sophia Villemez-Atkinson, Dinki "William" (Katherine), Samuel, Noah, Shayna, Joseph, Abigail Mire, Coty and Michael Bryant; and his great grandchildren, Liam and Xavier Bryant.
