He was predeceased by: his wife Emelda "Mel" L. Bruce; his daughter Cathy Bruce; his parents, Leon "Tous" Bruce and Gernice D. Bruce; and his brother Gary Bruce.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Walker (Pat), Dena Gravois (David) and Jad Bruce (Serena); his grandchildren, James Walker Jr. (Jen) and Carlie Thibodaux (Chaz); his great grandchildren, Jackson, Kathryn, Brooklyn, Cohen and Brady; and his brother Michael Bruce.
