He was predeceased by: his mothers, Mildred Burkhlater and Claudia Burkhlater; his siblings, James Burkhalter, Johnnie E. Burkhalter Sr., Rickey Burkhalter Sr., Stella L. Carral and Frankie Burkhalter; and his siblings-in-law, Larry Jones, Kenneth Carral and Vernell Burkhalter.
He is survived by: his sisters, Jessie Lee Burkhalter of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Daine Jones of Oakland, California, Claudine Harvey of Cleveland, Ohio, Catherine Brumfield (Alvin) of Franklinton, Louisiana and Debra Ramsey (Girard) of Franklinton, Louisiana; and his sister-in-law Sylvia Burkhalter of Franklinton, LA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
