He was predeceased by: his son Chad James McFarlain; his parents, Erwin John McFarlain and Audrey Gatte McFarlain; his brothers, Buford McFarlain and Basal McFarlain; and his in-laws, Benny Billodeau and Myrtle Landry Billodeau.
He is survived by: his nephews, Scott Dye and Jerome Hebert; his wife Rita Billodeau McFarlain; his son John D. McFarlain Jr. (Tammy Brack); his granddaughters, Holly Mitchell (Matthew) and Heather McFarlain; his great grandchildren, Emery, Parker Mitchell and Cillian McFarlain; his brothers, Glenn McFarlain, Marcus McFarlain, Brian McFarlain, Randy McFarlain and Dwight McFarlain; and his siblings-in-law, Charles Billodeau and Linda B. Moore (Catalene B. Theriot). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption (915 Main St, Franklin, LA 70538). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at the Sacred Heart Cemetery (414 Martin Luther King Jr St, Baldwin, LA 70514).
