He was predeceased by: his children, Harold C. "Brother" Poole, Jr. of Long Leaf and Mary E. "Beth" Poole; his parents, Hayden Johns and Bessie R. Chamberlain Poole; and his brother Hayden Johns Poole, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Mary Estelle Carter Poole; his grandson Howard Nelson Palmer, III (Julia Christine Pease); his siblings, Margery Poole Purkey of Alexandria and Larry R. Poole (Toni Poole) of Forest Hill; and also Carolyn Maxey.
