He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertie Mae Odom and Calvin Smith Thigpen. He is survived by: his wife Rita Thigpen; and also Calvin Smith, Jr.. He is also survived by one daughter; two sons; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
