We are sad to announce that on February 19, 2020, Richard Abney (Folsom, Louisiana) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his wife Carol Seghers Abney; his son Richard C. Abney Jr. Beloved; his parents, Robert Ralph Abney and Lillian Gertrude Ragan; and his brother Melvin Abney Sr..

He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia Pilet, Jessica Schaeffer (Larry), Denise Fuzette (Paul) and Rebecca Billiot; his grandchildren, Shantel, Richard, Larry, Colleen, Courtney and Maddison; his siblings, Shirley Birrcher, Lillian Nunez, Velma Saran, Donald Abney Sr., Iris Farrell, Fay Melancon and Raymond Abney Sr. The; and his friend Dozen.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his honor to St. Jude or a charity of your choice.

“Richard "Dick"Abney will be missed by my family as well as myself. He was a great neighbor, having lived next door to him and Carol for almost 30 years. He was a kind man and very thoughtful to all his neighbors. He would help out anyone in need as he did with family. My late husband and I spent many an evening talking to him over our fence. He was a true friend and will be missed. My sincere sympathy goes out to his children and love ones. Edna Laterrade Touchard”
