He was predeceased by: his wife Alva Thaxton; his parents, Barto Thaxton and Katy Dell Thaxton (Stewart); and his brothers, Lt. Robert Donald Thaxton and Thomas Bailey "T. B.".
He is survived by: his sisters, Inez Davis, Bonnie Corley, Edith Thigpen, Christine Byrd, Myrtice Fridell and Irene Thaxton; his children, Michael Thaxton (Shirley Rodgers) of Lumberton, TX and Judy Thaxton Johnson (E. J.) of Austin, TX; and his grandson Christopher Collins Thaxton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
