He was predeceased by: his parents, Olen Tanner and Elizabeth Clarke Tanner. He is survived by: his wife Lynette Ater Tanner; his children, Dr. Virginia "Jennie" Thurston, George Tanner, Jr. (Brigit Persson), John Elliott Branton (Robin), Donald Wayne Branton and Lauren Tanner Stinson (Doug); and his grandchildren, Tate, Searcy, Quin, Harrison, Suzannah Branton, Conner, Abby Branton, Ainsley and Hallie Stinson. He is also survived by many cousins his age who were like siblings.
