He was predeceased by: his daughter Sandra Linda Strickland; and his former wife Sandra Kay Zella. He is survived by: his children, James Jr. (Donna), Chris (Martha), Budde, Roland (Shauna) and Josh (Kayla); his grandchildren, Lindsey (Tyler), Ivy (Luke), Dalton, Kortnee, Kaden, Ethan, Fox, Nicholas and Kali; his siblings, Johnny Strickland, Linda Lowery, Gail Hughes, Gloria Saint, Kathy Saint (Terry), Caren Strickland and Curtis Webb Strickland Jr.; and his former wife Cindy Ann Taylor. He is also survived by close friend and brother-in-arms Jeff LaMore, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
