He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennie Freeman and Bessie Freeman; the mother of his children Helen Martin; his son Bennie Keith Freeman, Sr.; and his brother Erwin Freeman.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Freeman; his children, Rhonda James (Kevin), Gregory Freeman and Steven Freeman (Lea); his stepdaughter Tanya Lee; his grandchildren, Bennie Keith Freeman, Jr., Andrew Freeman, Chadd Lohse, Alicia James, Sarah Freeman, Gregory Freeman, II, Dylan and Kaylan Hardie; and his siblings, Kerry Freeman (Lavenia) and Kathy Hatton (Ronnie). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
