He was predeceased by: his parents, John Skains and Orare Bearden Skains; his daughter Sharon Shaughnessy; his grandsons, Ronald Atkins and Chris Hutto; his sister Ruth; his brother-in-law Marvin Albritton; and his brother Taylor "Pug" Skains.
He is survived by: his grandmother Ferguson Skains; his children, Vicky Key (Red), Teresa Hutto (Billy Don Knowles), Cindy Skains (Vince Militello), Marlin "Bub" Maddoux (Kathy) and Bob Maddoux (Nancy); his brother Danny Skains (Debbie); and his sister-in-law Maxine Skains. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren; along with other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
