With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Mercedes Abney Terry of Evergreen, Louisiana, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. As Mercedes departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Mercedes may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Mercedes leaves behind.

She was predeceased by: her husband George "Pickle" Terry; her granddaughter Lisa Catanese; her parents, Horace Abney and Eleanor Keen Abney; and her siblings, Joyce Bateman, Carmen Gremillion of Nedra Rivers, S. A., Elaine Reed and Dorothy Abney.

She is survived by: her daughters, Peggy T. Pourciau (George) of Evergreen and Carol T. Shively (Ken) of Shreveport. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Bayou Rouge Baptist Church (133 Church, Evergreen, LA 71333).
