He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilson Fontenot and Agnes Manuel Fontenot; his son Tim Fontenot; and his siblings, Ernest Fontenot, Herman Fontenot and Audrey Manuel.

He is survived by: his sons, Tony Fontenot (Pam) of Youngsville and Tommy Fontenot (Jill) of Carencro; the mother of his children Mae Tietz (Richard) of Carencro; his grandchildren, Lance Fontenot (Dana), Blake Fontenot (Deidre), Korri Andrew (Joey) and Ian Fontenot (Haley); and his great grandchildren, Logen Fontenot and David Andrew.
