She was predeceased by: her husband Richard G. Steele; her son Shawn A. Steele; her parents, Azama and Andre; and her siblings, Lucy Carriere Arnaud, Elizabeth "Betty" Carriere Wead, Ivan Luke Carriere and Rodney James Carriere.
She is survived by: her sisters, Linda Carriere Tatman, Mary Carriere Duplechain and Helena Carriere Oubre; and her sons, Daniel G. Steele (Diana), Mark E. Steele (Debbie), Donald James "Jim" Steele (Yvonne) and Zachary S. Steele. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude.
