He was predeceased by: his parents, Noel Guidry and Cecile Miller Guidry; his wife Jennifer "Tottie" Guidry; his son Shannon Guidry; his siblings, Cleaven Guidry, Felton Guidry, Judy Gotreaux, Jeanette Higginbotham and Bernice Arnaud; his granddaughter Melanie Guidry; and his great grandchild Bently Guidry.
He is survived by: his children, John Guidry Jr. (Marlene), Daniel Guidry (Mary), Troy Guidry (Sonya) and Sherry Eaves (Kimbo); and his siblings, Alfred Guidry, Leaven "Black" Guidry, Larry Guidry and Lorainne Bertrand. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren.
