He was predeceased by: his wife Ella Mae Thibodeaux Fontenot; his parents, Dovic Fontenot and Alma Smith Fontenot; his son Bobby Fontenot; and his siblings, Burkman Fontenot, Norris Fontenot, Mary Lou Fontenot and Lucy Meaux.
He is survived by: his children, Gary Fontenot (Celina), Steven Fontenot and Linda Langley (Bubba). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
