He was predeceased by: his parents, David Whatley and Verda Whatley; and his siblings, Jesse Whatley, Jerry Whatley, Jeanette Dusang, Doris Durham and Diane Sibley.
He is survived by: his wife Evy Whatley of Erath; his children, David James Whatley, Jr. (Jennifer) of Naples, Florida, Tina Ryland of Alexandria, Angela Whatley of Montgomery and Tracie Bermudez (Arnaldo) of Lafayette; and his siblings, Homer Whatley, Frances Whatley, Bonnie Riley and Shirley Arnold. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
