He was predeceased by: his wife Elizabeth Geary Petagna; and his sister Ann Petagna Dupont. He is survived by: his parents, Louella Cooper Petagna and Francis Janssens Petagna; and his children, Peggy Fisk (Lea), Beth Charlton, John Cooper Petagna Jr. (Alice), Gayle Sisk (Fred), Lynn Betack (Chuck), Keith Petagna (Sidonie), Penny McIntosh (Kenny), Brent Petagna (Lisa), Patty Mayeux (Steve), Bryan "Herky" Petagna and Stephen "Dodie" Petagna. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
