He was predeceased by: his wife Lindy Vincent Istre; his children, Casey and John Phillip Istre; his parents, O'Neal Istre, and Thelma LeJeune Istre, Jr.; and his brother O'Neal "Boo" Istre, III.
He is survived by: his children, Bryce Vincent Istre of Lafayette and Tori Istre Hebert (Donald, Jr.) of Egan; his siblings, Joseph Daniel Istre (Linda) of Egan, Rebecca Istre Thibodeaux (Joseph) of Lafayette and James Elridge Istre (Rachal) of Egan; and his grandchildren, Madalyn, Imberlyn, Harper and Karsyn Hebert. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
