It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Juanita Nixon Simmons of Dry Creek, Louisiana, who passed away on January 25, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her daughter Dee Dee Burgin; her parents, Richard Lormand and Edith Lormand; her former husband Gordon Nixon, Jr.; and her sisters, Marie Young, Geri Fossett and Patricia Lormand.
She is survived by: her husband James Simmons of Dry Creek; her children, Gordon D. Nixon (Eileen) of Chapel Hill, Michael Nixon (Faye) of Lake Charles and Edith Nixon of Moss Bluff; her stepdaughters, Patricia Simmons of Owensboro and Brooke Dovgon of Las Vegas, Nevada; and her sister Blackie Savant of Kinder. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
