He was predeceased by: his parents, Matt Edward Reed, Sr. and Nula Lucas Reed; and his siblings, Ezra Reed, Carlton Reed, Clyde Reed, Evie Beaubouef, Ethel Sims, Edna Beaubouef and Ellen Marie Reed.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Littleton Reed; his children, Chad Reed (Amy) and Denise Reed McNeely (Matt, Jr.); his siblings, Shelton Reed, Matt Reed, Jr. (Janice), Lloyd Reed, Vernell McCarty and Neva Belgard (Winford); and his grandchildren, Ethan McNeely (Ainsley) and Kaitin McNeely.
