She was predeceased by: her parents, Harvey Matthis and Elma Green Matthis; her husband Sheldon Simmons; and her children, Gareth A. Simmons and Shelda Lyn Cooley.
She is survived by: her daughter Joanna Smith of DeRidder; her grandchildren, Brad Nesbitt (Stacey) and Daisy Carmona (Daniel); and her son-in-law Mickey Cooley. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
