It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Downs (Deridder, Louisiana), born in Oberlin, Louisiana, who passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Ann Downs; his parents, Prentice Downs and Elma Downs; and his siblings, Sonny Downs, Mickey Downs, Betty Baird, Barbara Perry, Carol Montgomery and Penny Falke.
He is survived by: his children, James David Downs (Melody) and Jennifer Lyn Rodrigue (Clay); his sister Sue Downs; his grandchildren, Cayley Christine Growcock (Zach) and Jayden James Downs; and his great grandchild Early James Growcock. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of James "Jimmy" Downs to Magnolia Messenger, PO Box 1578, Kosciusko, MS, 39090 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
