She was predeceased by: her parents, Nathaniel Ford and Joan Cooley Hightower; her husband Edward McGowan; her brothers, J. D. Milstead and George Walton; and her daughter Shanteal Harvey.
She is survived by: her sons, Samuel Harvey (Hettie) of Norman, OK, E. J. McGowan of Kinder, LA and Stephen Walker of Alamogordo, NM; and her siblings, Tonya Willison, Mary Williams, Laura of Washington, James Walton and Nathaniel Walton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren.
